Terms & Conditions

These terms set out the basis on which Stoke Laptops Ltd sells products, carries out repairs, and provides recycling and related services. They're written to be fair to you and clear for us. By buying from us, booking a repair, or using our services, you agree to these terms.

Nothing in these terms removes or reduces your legal rights as a consumer.

1. Who we are

Stoke Laptops Ltd — a company registered in England & Wales (company no. 13179060).
Registered office and shop: 18 Stafford Street, Stoke-on-Trent, ST1 1JQ.
Contact: WhatsApp, text or call 07542 550882, or pop into the shop.

2. What these terms cover

  • In-store sales of refurbished laptops, phones and consoles
  • Repairs
  • Online sales of accessories
  • Free recycling, secure storage destruction, and part-exchange

Our separate Guarantee and Privacy Policy also apply and should be read alongside these terms.

3. Sales (in-store)

  • All items are sold subject to availability and are described as accurately as we can.
  • Refurbished items are pre-owned and may show light cosmetic wear; we'll always make significant marks clear before sale.
  • Every device is backed by our Guarantee (12 months; see the Guarantee page for full detail).
  • Change of mind: as in-store purchases are hand-prepared, we don't offer refunds for change of mind. A credit note may be offered at our discretion. This does not affect your statutory rights.

4. Online orders (accessories)

  • Accessories bought online are supplied and shipped by trusted third-party suppliers on our behalf.
  • A contract is formed once we confirm your order. If an item is unavailable or mispriced, we may cancel and fully refund you.
  • Prices include VAT where applicable. We try to keep prices and stock accurate but errors can occur.
  • Delivery: please see our Delivery & Returns policy for current delivery options and costs.
  • Cancellation and returns: for online orders you have the legal right to cancel within 14 days of receiving your item and return it (unused and as sold) for a refund, in line with the Consumer Contracts Regulations. Faulty items are covered by your statutory rights and any manufacturer's warranty.

5. Repairs

  • We offer a free diagnostic. We'll give you a quote and won't carry out chargeable work until you approve it.
  • Repairs are guaranteed for 6 months on the specific repair carried out (see the Guarantee page).
  • Your data is your responsibility — please back up before any repair. We take care, but we cannot be responsible for any loss of data.
  • We're not responsible for pre-existing faults, or for faults we did not cause or agree to fix.
  • Some issues can only be assessed as a simple yes or no as to whether a repair is viable; we'll always be upfront about this.

5a. Uncollected items

Items left with us for repair or collection must be collected promptly. Once your item is ready, it is held at your risk. If an item remains uncollected for 3 months (90 days) after we notify you it is ready, we reserve the right to sell or otherwise dispose of it to recover any money owed and our reasonable costs, in accordance with the Torts (Interference with Goods) Act 1977. Before any sale, we will give you written notice of our intention to sell — sent by recorded or registered delivery — stating any amount owed and giving you a reasonable opportunity to collect. Where a sale takes place, any surplus (after deducting what you owe and our costs of sale) will be held for you.

6. Recycling, storage destruction and part-exchange

  • We recycle old tech free of charge, in any condition, responsibly through a charity partner.
  • On request, we can arrange secure destruction of your storage with a certificate provided. This is carried out by a trusted third-party partner. Please note: eMMC storage cannot be physically destroyed.
  • Once tech is handed over for recycling, ownership passes to us or our recycling partner.
  • Part-exchange is available against a laptop where your device is in working order; other arrangements may be possible at our discretion.

7. Discounts

We offer student, blue light and veteran discounts on production of valid ID. Discounts cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer or promotion.

8. Goodwill and discretion

From time to time we may choose to help beyond what these terms or our Guarantee require — for example sorting an out-of-warranty fault, or offering a refund we're not obliged to give. Any such help is a one-off goodwill gesture, made entirely at our discretion. It doesn't change these terms, set a precedent, or oblige us to do the same again.

9. Our liability

  • We stand fully behind our products and workmanship as set out in our Guarantee and by law.
  • We're not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for data loss (see section 5).
  • Nothing in these terms limits our liability where it would be unlawful to do so — including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or your statutory consumer rights.

10. Your statutory rights

These terms are in addition to your legal rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and other consumer law. Goods must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. Nothing here affects those rights.

11. General

  • We may update these terms from time to time; the version on our website at the time of your purchase applies.
  • These terms are governed by the law of England & Wales.
